Lithium Mining Technology

E3 Lithium is a lithium resource and technology company aiming to power the growing electrical revolution. Based in Alberta, E3 Lithium’s combined resources, including the Clearwater project, are being developed on the backbone of the mature and sophisticated oil and gas industry. E3 is a Calgary-based pre-production company that has developed a commercialization plan that includes construction of wells and test facilities to de-risk the commercial plant design.

Development of E3’s Lithium in Brine Resource using Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) Technology

E3 Lithium has the largest Measured & Indicated lithium resource in Canada according to Natural Resources Canada data, with 16.0 million tonnes (Mt) Measured and Indicated Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE), hosted in the world-class Leduc Aquifer. Lithium from deep saline aquifers represents an emerging source of lithium, distinct from the commercial mining or salar-based extraction techniques.

E3 has pioneered a novel approach for lithium resource estimation in deep saline brines and has developed a DLE ion-exchange technology using a proprietary sorbent designed to be highly selective towards lithium ions. An overview of E3’s steps to develop this emerging industry in Alberta, from field sampling, drilling, flow testing, and field-based pilot, all in support of the planned commercial project.
