Viking Air acquires Bombardier Q400 Production

ABSTRACT

Viking Air Ltd’s parent company, Longview Aviation Capital Corp., a leading Canadian aircraft manufacturer acquired the entire Dash 8 program including the 100, 200 and 300 series and the Q400 program from Bombardier Inc., which makes Longview North America’s largest commercial turboprop aircraft manufacturer. There are more than 1,000 aircraft currently in service or slated for production. The entire de Havilland product line is now reunited under the same banner for the first time in decades.  Longview and Bombardier are working closely to ensure a seamless transition for employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders with no interruption in production, delivery and support of the aircraft.

Viking Air Ltd., based in Sydney, is the Canadian-based, leader in utility aircraft services and manufacturers of the Series 400 Twin Otter. Viking is the Original Type Certificate holder for out-of-production de Havilland aircraft and the Canadair Aerial Firefighter fleet. Viking Air will play an important in the overall Longview team in both its Victoria and Calgary facilities.
